The man who invented the wheel

The organizers received a lot of responses, but almost all of them were unoriginal — basically it was proposed to build a higher tower. Even Alexander Gustave Eiffel sent his project, which again was limited to the construction higher than the Parisian tower (Burnham received several dozen letters of protest from leading American engineers, perturbed by such unpatriotic approach).

Young engineer George Ferris came up with the idea. Considering various projects, one day during a dinner with colleagues he remembered the wheels of water mills, which saw growing on the Carson river in Nevada. By the end of dinner he was drawing on napkins sketches a giant Ferris wheel with cabins for visitors. Most of his colleagues found the project to be absolutely impossible, but Ferris was persistent. He spent $25 000 of their own funds (at that time a lot of money) for the creation of drawings and the development of precise specifications of structures, and finally, on November 29, 1892, the administration of the exhibition agreed. However, with one condition — unlike the Eiffel tower, whose construction was partially financed by the French government, and Ferris had to find the money to build the wheels (and he succeeded). France Attractions

Favorite place of all the children of Europe and not only. Here, adults find that they are still children. You can get stuck for a few days in the variety of rides. The best time for visits is when the least people – late autumn. High expectations – 10-15 minutes instead of several hours in the summer. However, some attractions may be closed on prevention. How to get to Disneyland

You will need to take the red metro line, direction Marne-la-Vallee. When buying a ticket at the subway ticket office, tell them you need a ticket for the suburban train RER A 4 to Disneyland (ticket cost 4 Euro).

The final stop is called “Disneyland” or its full name in French “Marne-la-Vallee / Chessy — Parcs Disneyland”.

From terminal 2 of the airport of Charles de Gaulle to Disneyland can be reached by Express train (travel time about 10 min).

From Orly airport can be reached with only two transfers over the suburbs of Paris, Anthony, and next to the train station châtelet-Les-Halles, where the Disneyland trains. Also in Marne-La-Vallee train from Central Paris (journey time approximately 35 min).
