Viacom will work in theme parks

Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN), which manages several popular channels, including the children’s channel Nickelodeon, and the company Parques Reunidos will work together to develop children’s theme parks in Europe: the first such Park will open in Spain in 2017. The parties have successfully cooperated for several years already: one Park they opened in Madrid, and the second, NickLand in Movie Park in Germany.

According to Gerald Raines, Vice President of VIMN, the company’s goal is to “Nickelodeon was everywhere where there are children. We are pleased to diversify our portfolio and move brands and Nickelodeon characters in real life by means of new family entertainment centers,” – said a top Manager.

In the framework of the expansion strategy of Parques Reunidos owns 55 theme and family amusement parks in the world, whose number of visitors is 22.2 million in 12 countries of Europe and South America. According to Pedro Cortes, General Manager of the company, soon the company will announce about the conclusion of an agreement on the development of entertainment centers in leading malls in several European countries: UK, France, Italy and Portugal.

The first such branded centre from VIMN and Parques Reunidos to appear in Spain, on Sredizemnomorskaja in Murcia, in Centro Comercial Thader managed by Metrovacesa. The plan area is of 34 thousand square feet space will be divided into interactive zones, adventure zone, a separate area for the youngest visitors and themed rides from Nickelodeon featuring favourite children’s characters from cartoons channel: spongebob, Dora the Explorer, teenage mutant ninja Turtles. In addition, the centers will have its own dining area.

Previously, VIMN has licensed the construction of a theme Park Nickelodeon in China. Its development will be engaged in local Sanshui New Town Management Committee and the Global Elite. It is known that the new Park will be located in South China, the cost of its creation will amount to 1.85 billion dollars, the construction should be completed by 2020.

Viacom for such transactions is extremely beneficial: they provide opportunities for cross-selling of armored products and services. China will become the largest movie market by 2020, it is therefore not surprising that, for example, Disney is also working on a project for the construction of large-scale theme Park in Shanghai. In addition, there are Nickelodeon attractions in Australia and the UK and has opened the Park in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Earlier it became known that the media group Viacom entered into negotiations for the sale of its remaining Studio Paramount Pictures. Analysts at Jefferies estimate Paramount almost $ 3.5 billion. It is not clear who exactly can to buy it, but Mario Gabelli, whose Gamco has 10% of the voting stock of Viacom, stated that the buyer may be the Jack MA, founder of Chinese company Alibaba.

In December 2015 VIMN completed the restructuring of business in Russia in the framework of the agreement with Legacy Media, LLC.
